Open Source

Good design is predominantly a collaborative affair, the accumulation of many small advancements made by countless individuals and groups. While much of the world is overly preoccupied with claiming ownership over trivial ‘selling points’ in service of making money, California Carts takes a different stance towards possession. The majority of our designs are merely adaptations inspired by existing archetypes, some borrowed from friends, factories or places we have worked. In this sense, we consider our work to be ‘Open Source’ and encourage others to modify, adapt or hack what we have built in order to advance the evolution of studio functionality.
